Maybe You’re Not Failing..

One for the road…

Hey there,

Before you start thinking about next week's appointments, lunches, laundry, birthday parties, and everything else sitting on your mental load...

Can we pause for a second?

How are you doing?

Not your kids. Not your partner. Not your to-do list.

You.

This week I found myself thinking about how many women are walking around convinced they're failing. Failing because they're impatient. Failing because they're tired. Failing because they don't have the energy they used to. Failing because they're hiding in the pantry eating chocolate chips while pretending they're looking for a snack for the kids.

(Just me?)

Failing because they keep saying they'll start taking care of themselves "next week”, but what if none of that means you're failing? What if it means you've been carrying too much for too long?

Burnout doesn't always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like forgetting why you walked into a room. Sometimes it looks like standing in the grocery store wondering what you came for. Sometimes it looks like snapping over something small and then feeling guilty for the next three hours. Sometimes it looks like scrolling your phone because your brain genuinely cannot handle making one more decision.

The thing is, your nervous system wasn't designed to stay in survival mode forever. Survival mode is incredibly helpful when there's an actual emergency. The problem is that many of us have been living there for months... maybe even years.

When your nervous system believes everything is urgent, it starts prioritizing survival over everything else.

Patience gets harder.
Rest feels impossible.
Motivation disappears.
Little things suddenly feel big.
And eventually, you start believing something is wrong with you.

But what if nothing is wrong with you? What if your nervous system is simply asking for a break?

Not because you're weak. Not because you're lazy. Not because you're failing. because you're human.

This Week's Burnout Bar Reminder

You do not need to earn rest.

Rest is not a reward for finishing everything.

Rest is what helps you keep going.

Try This This Weekend

Before bed tonight, ask yourself: "What do I need right now?"

Not what everyone else needs. Not what should get done. Not what would make someone else happy.

What do I need?

See what answer comes up.

Don't judge it. Just listen.

One for the Road ☕

Maybe you're not failing.

Maybe you've just been surviving for so long that you've forgotten what support feels like.

Be gentle with yourself this weekend.
